SPORTS MEDICINE FELLOWSHIP
Our Mission
The Sports Medicine Track (SMT) has been developed to provide education, research, training, and exposure in the field of primary care sports medicine beyond that of the residency core curriculum. By completing the SMT, residents will develop a strong foundation in sports medicine in preparation for fellowship.
OPPORTUNITIES
Residents enrolled in the Sports Medicine Track will:

1. Participate in structured and intensive training in the areas of musculoskeletal, trauma, and primary care medicine as it pertains to athletes.
2. Act as a team physician for Miami High Schools and U Miami Club Sports with the possibility to provide mass event coverage and Division 1 NCAA sports.
3. Complete on-site clinical exposure in Sports Medicine Clinics with longitudinal mentoring by sports medicine faculty
4. Pursue scholarly activity in sports medicine and present at national conferences
5. Provide mentorship to the medical student Sports Medicine Interest Group
6. Participate in community service activities - including sports physicals for local, private, and public high schools
FACULTY LEADER
Kristopher Paultre, M.D. is the founder and faculty leader of the SMT.
Dr. Paultre is a board-certified family medicine and sports medicine physician who completed residency and fellowship at the University of Miami. With dual appointments as an assistant professor of orthopedics and family medicine, Dr. Paultre specializes in providing sports medicine primary care to athletes of all levels. He splits his time between Mentorship, Sports Medicine Clinic, Research, Athletic coverage, The Firefighter Cancer Institute, and Student Health.
RESIDENT LEADERSHIP
Callie Bartkowiak, MD is the Sports Medicine Track Chief for 2024-2025. The leadership team has been able to cover NCAA Division I sports, complete systematic reviews, submit publications, and present at national conferences. Nathan Rodricks, DO is our 2024-2025 sports medicine fellow, Class of 2024.
